One Day BS 5839-6 Fire Alarm Systems in Domestic Premises

EAL Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Fire Detection and Alarm Systems in Dwellings BS5839-6. The prerequisite for this course is that you must have previously sat the ZZEUS 4 or 5 day BS 5839-1 course.

This day is aimed at engineers who are currently practising but may not have updated to the latest standard of BS5839-6. It is a very full day starting at 9:00am with an exam at 4:00pm. You are expected to already have knowledge of previous versions of BS5839-6 but may not be up to date with the 2020 version.

This is a closed-book exam, so not easy.

  • The technology of the system grades

  • Sound levels and audibility

This is a very intensive day culminating in a 100-minute closed-book exam.

During the course, learners will work through the requirements of BS 5839-6 to provide an understanding of:

  • The scope of BS 5839-6 and the premises covered.
  • The different grades and categories of system available.
  • A guide to a system’s minimum grade and categories for typical premises.
  • The location of detectors & manual call points specific to domestic buildings.
  • The requirement for the limitation of false alarms.
  • The audibility requirements
  • The requirements for installation, commissioning & certification.
  • This is a theory-based course that builds on the knowledge of our EAL BS 5839-1:2017 exam, with an online exam at the end of the day.

The prerequisite for this course is successful completion of the EAL level 3 BS 5839-1 exam.
