Our July 2024 Delegates Achieve Record-Breaking Marks

We're excited to share some fantastic news from our recent courses.

In July 2024, our delegates achieved the highest scores on record in our challenging five-day BS 5839-1 qualification, which we've been offering since 2019. Out of 40 participants, eleven delegates scored an impressive 100%, earning their place in our exclusive '100% Club.'

As part of this group, these new members received a special badge featuring a break glass call point with gold lettering displaying "100% Club." Over the years, many of our members have proudly shared their success on LinkedIn, generating excitement and inspiring others to strive for the same level of excellence.

We established the '100% Club' in 2021 to elevate the performance of fire alarm learners at our Lincoln centre, with the goal of pushing average scores above 90%. With the incentive of reaching 100% and receiving a prize, we've successfully motivated fire alarm engineers to achieve the highest standards of knowledge and competence in their field. Since the club's inception, average scores have risen to over 92%, up from 85%.

Many candidates now attend our courses with the aim of joining the '100% Club,' eager to demonstrate their commitment to competency to their peers. In recognition of this overall improvement, we've also introduced a Gold Standard award for candidates achieving over 90%.

Among the standout achievers in July 2024 was Caleb Houston, an 18-year-old Junior Estimator from the London-based Pacific Fire & Security. Praised by his colleagues as a 'rising star,' Caleb became one of the youngest people on record to join the club. Reflecting on his experience, Caleb said:

"I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent at the Zzeus course; the staff were always open to questions and were keen to offer help when needed; I was greeted and felt welcome every morning on arrival. As I was the youngest person on the course that week, I was a little anxious; however, as we progressed into the week, I built a sociable relationship with the attendees and staff. After securing 100% on the test, I received many congratulations from friends and family and the kind staff who helped me reach that goal, for which I am overly grateful."

Dr. Tom Brookes, MSc PhD CEng FIET, our Founder and Managing Director, added, "At Zzeus, we focus on empowering engineers. Rather than just issuing a certificate that might end up in a file, we provide something tangible for engineers to display with pride. We aim to create a buzz around the profession and foster pride in being a fire alarm engineer."
